Various Uses for Thunder God Vine Extract
Unless you have been hiding under a bush in the naturopathic world lately, you have heard of the amazing properties of thunder god vine – a recently “re-discovered” natural remedy that the Chinese healers have been using for centuries.
First and foremost, not all portions of this herb are edible. The peeled roots are the only portion of the vine that is not actually poisonous. The other parts – stems, leaves, flowers and so on, can be used to make a natural pesticide that you can use to avoid using the cancer-causing chemicals present in treatments like Round-Up.
The peeled root of the thundergod vine has MANY active compounds in it that have been proven to treat a number of conditions. Originally, ancient Chinese healers used the peeled crushed root to treat conditions such as arthritis, psoriasis, boils and carbunkles, as well as tumors and inflammation. Today, many of these uses have been confirmed by laboratory research, at least, in the preliminary stages. However, there is not big money is herbal treatments, so science will do its best to create a synthetic version – and like many synthetic versions of natural compounds, the risks of taking it may indeed outweigh the benefits. This is why, personally, I will always be a supporter of natural cures over synthetic medication.
First on the list of ailments that respond to treatment with tripterygium wilfordii is inflammation. The specific active compound in the plant that fights inflammation is Triptolide. It works by decreasing excess Nitric Oxide, thereby reducing swelling and incidentally, reducing the chances for cell damage due to swelling.
Rheumatoid Arthritis is also a disease that can benefit from thunder god root. Triptolide also treats RA using much the same “technology” that is treats inflammation. In RA, the Triptolide also actively interferes with the RNA replication which helps to reduce swelling and pain in rheumatic conditions. Another HUGE benefit that TGR may give is from a compound called Celastrol, which can help fight bone damage from RA and similar diseases. Celastrol helps to regulate cross-talk between the bone marrow cells that produce the antibodies that cause the damage.
Psoriasis can also be treated with Thunder God Vine. It will, of course, reduce swelling and pain, but it can also help to suppress the immune system and suppress outbreaks, or lessen their severity.
Thunder god vine extract also treats obesity by reducing the leptin resistance that creates weight gain. In one study, mice treated with the extract reduced their food intake and ended up losing 40% of their body weight because it curbed their appetite and reduced leptin insensitivity.
Finally, one of the most exciting uses for thunder god root is the treatment of cancer. Both Celastrol and Triptolide have shown in clinical trials to reduce tumors and even wipe out pancreatic cancer in mice completely.
It can be hard to get a hold of the extract, but if you are looking to buy thunder god vine and try it out for yourself, we offer it here for $25 for 10 grams. That is about a month’s supply if you take 250 mg/day. We have also tested our product in independent US labs for trace metals, as heavy metals can be a concern in products harvested overseas (which is where the vine naturally grows). Our product is below US minimum standards for trace elements. We offer our product through Amazon (free prime shipping) and our storefront, which also offers free shipping.
